 TRUCK BED LADDER RACK Mar 14, 2011

I RECEIVED THIS ITEM AS PROMISED.
THERE WERE NO INSTRUCTIONS
IT WAS SIMPLE TO A POINT
AFTER THE FOUR UPRIGHT CORNERS WERE BOLTED DOWN, THE UPRIGHTS WERE NOT VERTICAL. THEY LEANED TO THE OUTSIDE OF THE TRUCK BY ONE OR TWO INCHES.
THIS MEANT THE TUBE BRACKETS FOR THE CROSS PIECES WOULD NOT SLIDE DOWN WITH THE CROSS PIECES IN THEM.
I USED A WIRE HOIST TO PULL THE SIDES INTO ALIGNMENT. THIS SLIGHTLY TWEAKED THE BED RAILS, (NOT A PROBLEM).
THIS DONE, THE TUBE BRACKETS FOR THE CROSS PIECES FELL RIGHT INTO PLACE.
BOLT HOLES DID NOT LINE UP EXACTLY AND I HAD TO DRILL THEM OUT. I THEN BOLTED ALL TOGETHER. ASSEMBLY TOOK APPROXIMATELY 2 HOURS.
THIS RACK IS STURDY, FEELS STRONG, AND HOLDS THE LADDERS WELL.
IT IS NOT DESIGNED FOR HEAVY CONSTRUCTION MATERIALS.

Works great but minor issues. Jul 30, 2011

This rack works great for my 2001 Ram, but I have a plastic bedliner and to install this with the bedliner in I had to cut holes big enough for my hand to fit through to bolt it down. Plus I had to buy a tube of lock-tite for the set screws to make sure they won't back out. But other than that, functionally it is a sturdy rack.

The rack itself is fine, nothing impressive but it works. Unfortunately part of why I went with this product is that my previous rack didn't have cleats to tie items down to and at least in the image this item did. I got the rack in a reasonable amount of time and it was easy to install but it didn't have the cleats. Now I have to go out buy some cleats, weld them to the rack and then repaint, or send the item back. I am not sure what is easier.
